Got a question?

Hopefully we have answered the majority of your questions below. However, if you still need further assistance please feel free to get in touch.

Please contact our sales team at 01462 480 499 or email sales@motor-buyer.co.uk to schedule a convenient time for us to inspect your vehicle. We offer collection services throughout mainland UK and can meet you at your home or another agreed location.

No! We understand that people develop attachments to their vehicles and you’re free to change your mind at any time.
  1. Your vehicle.
  2. The V5 (logbook) DVLA registration certificate, which should be in the name of the registered keeper for at least 6 months.
  3. Two forms of identification: one original photo ID (e.g., passport or Driving License) and one proof of address (e.g., utility bill or council tax letter dated within the last 3 months).
  4. Both sets of vehicle keys. If one key is missing, please inform us during the valuation stage to avoid any reduction in our offer after inspection.
  5. Your bank details. We aim to make prompt bank transfers, but the money can only be transferred to an account in the name of the registered keeper.
  6. Finance settlement letter. If there are any outstanding finance payments, we require a letter or email from the finance company or lender specifying the settlement figure and its validity until date to proceed with the purchase.
Yes, we can still purchase your vehicle even if there is outstanding finance. However, we will need a letter or email from the finance company or lender stating the settlement figure and its validity until date. We will pay the finance company directly, deduct the settlement amount from the agreed price, and transfer the remaining balance to you or you pay us a difference if the settlement amount is higher than the agreed purchase price.
We don’t offer higher valuation based on a private registration plate presence, but we are willing to buy vehicles with private plates. If you prefer to keep your private plate, please note that it is your responsibility to arrange this with the DVLA before selling the vehicle to us. The DVLA can help reassign the plates to a new vehicle or provide a retention certificate for future reassignment.

During the appointment, you will meet with one of our vehicle experts who will accompany you to inspect your vehicle. If our expert discovers any undisclosed information or aspects of the vehicle’s history or condition that were not aware during the initial valuation, the offered price may differ from the initial valuation. This can include customizations or unique features. If you agree to proceed with the sale after the inspection, we will handle all the necessary paperwork and  arrange a bank transfer payment to your bank account.

We can only guarantee the valuation price for 7 days. Due to the current vehicle market, any valuation older than that timeframe is no longer valid. However, obtaining a new up-to-date valuation is a quick and easy process. You can enter your registration on our website’s homepage, or simply call 01462 480 499 or email sales@motor-buyer.co.uk.

Yes! There is a possibility of receiving a road tax refund if you have any unused months remaining when you sell your vehicle. To ensure eligibility for a refund, please notify the DVLA of the sale and they will arrange a refund.

Yes, we can buy your vehicle as long as it is registered in the UK. However, please note that models and specifications can vary between countries, which may affect the price compared to UK-supplied vehicles.

If the address on your V5 does not match your other documentation, it is a common issue that can be easily resolved. Simply provide proof of your current address (e.g. utility bill or council tax letter dated within the last 3 months).

Generally, we only purchase vehicles from the person named on the log book/V5 to prevent fraud. However, we understand that there may be legitimate reasons for selling without being the registered keeper. If this applies to you, please contact us with full details, and we will do our best to accommodate your situation while advising you on the necessary documentation.

No, we only purchase vehicles that have the correct V5 registration document (log book). If you have misplaced your V5, you can visit the DVLA website to request a replacement. Please note that the replacement process may take up to a week for the document to arrive.

Once you agree to sell your vehicle, our vehicle expert will complete the necessary paperwork with you and will arrange a prompt bank transfer the payment directly into your bank account.

It is in your best interest to provide accurate and complete information about your vehicle’s condition during the inspection.

Yes, we will pay you the full amount of the initial valuation unless our inspection uncovers new information that affects the vehicle’s value. The price we offer after the inspection is the final amount we will pay if you accept our offer. Our goal is to provide a fair market price and ensure your satisfaction with our service.

When we say ‘subject to inspection,’ it means that our initial valuation is an estimate and is not a binding contract. An expert inspection is crucial to accurately assess the vehicle’s condition and value. The valuation we provide after the inspection may differ from the initial estimate if our vehicle expert identifies additional features, customizations, or discrepancies that were not aware of during the initial valuation. The post-inspection valuation represents our final offer, and we do not engage in haggling. If the inspection aligns with the initial valuation, that will be the price we pay.

Yes, we purchase vehicles from the motor trade as well. You can enter the vehicle’s registration on our website’s homepage as usual. Alternatively, feel free to contact our valuation team at 01462 480 499 or email sales@motor-buyer.co.uk, and we can discuss the details further.
